HIGHLIGHTS OF THE MAY 2, 2023 REGULAR SESSION

 

The following legislations were approved by the 20th City Council during its 17th Regular Session held on May 2, 2023, to wit:

0206-23 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AND SIGN, FOR AND IN BEHALF OF THE CITY OF DAVAO, THE MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (MOU) TO BE ENTERED INTO BY AND AMONG VARIOUS GOVERNMENT OFFICES/AGENCIES RELATIVE TO THE CREATION OF THE PROJECT INTER-AGENCY COMMITTEE (PIAC) IN RELATION TO THE NATIONAL HOUSING AUTHORITY (NHA) PROJECTS IN DAVAO CITY
 
0207-23 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AND SIGN, FOR AND IN BEHALF OF THE CITY OF DAVAO, THE RENEWAL OF THE DEED OF USUFRUCT TO BE EXECUTED BY AND BETWEEN THE CITY OF DAVAO AND THE TECHNICAL EDUCATION AND SKILLS DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY XI (TESDA XI), SUBJECT OF WHICH IS AN 800 SQ. M. PORTION OF A CITY-OWNED PROPERTY LOCATED AT POINSETTIA STREET, BARANGAY MINTAL, TUGBOK DISTRICT, DAVAO CITY
 
0208-23 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CERTAIN SECTIONS OF ORDINANCE NO. 0873-22, ENTITLED “AN ORDINANCE CREATING PEACE 911-THE CENTER FOR PEACEBUILDING AS A DIVISION OF THE OFFICE OF THE CITY MAYOR (CMO), SUBJECT TO ALL LAWS AND EXISTING LEGAL RULES AND REGULATIONS”

            The Body likewise approved Resolution No. 01122-23 and its corresponding Ordinance on Second Reading, both Series of 2023, for the passage of an Ordinance amending City Ordinance No. 0546-21, Series of 2021, Establishing the Davao City Inventions and Innovation Center, Defining its Powers and Functions, and for Other Purposes.

 

Resolution Nos. 01123-23 to 01140-23, all Series of 2023, were adopted on Second Reading, favorably endorsing the Accreditation with the City Government of Davao of eighteen (18) associations in Davao City, namely: Philippine Family Farmers Agriculture Fishery Forestry Cooperatives Federation, Talikala Inc., Piapi Muslim Seaside Fisherfolk Association (PMSFA), Barangay 21-C Fisherfolks Association, MAJAD Fisherfolk Women’s Association, Lizada Beach Fisherfolks Home Settlers  Association, Fisherman Village Fisherfolks Women’s Association, Lizada Fisherfolks Informal Settlers Women Association, Lizada Ornamental Fish Growers Association, Daliao Kanipaan Fisherfolks Welfare Association, Daliao Andaya Fishvendor and Fisherfolks Association, Purok 3A Riverside Fish Farmer Association, Piapi Muslim Seaside Women’s Fisherfolk Association, Task Force Kasanag, Inc., Lizada Village Fisherfolks Association, Tambongon Fisherfolks Association, Barangay Sentro Fisherfolks Association, and Samuel Village Landas Compound  Fisherfolks Home Settlers Association, respectively.

 

Resolution No. 01141-23, Series of 2023, was also approved under Suspended Rules, Enacting an Ordinance requiring all public institutions under the City Government of Davao to observe the liberation of Davao City from the claws of World War II on May 3 of every year and making it a special working holiday in the City, which was likewise considered as having been read under First Reading and referred to the appropriate committee. (Docketed as Item No. 933)

 

Finally, upon sponsorship of Councilor Myrna G. L’Dalodo-Ortiz, Resolution No. 01155-23, Series of 2023, was adopted by the Body requesting the City Mayor to create a Technical Working Group (TWG) for the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)-Assisted Projects in Davao City.
